What is a Root Canal?
A root canal is an endodontic procedure used to save a severely infected tooth often with large decay affecting the nerve of a tooth. When decay is left untreated, the protective layers of a tooth become worn down, exposing the soft pulp inside of the tooth to infection. A tooth that has suffered trauma may also affect the nerve of the tooth. Root canals are used to save teeth. The procedure removes infected tissue and the tooth is temporarily sealed to allow healing after the treatment.
